Juliet Lost ~ three

~ The Maiden's Tale ~ chapter one ~ part three ~

View over as a new structure grows from the steam nearby, paths clearing through it into.  The train announces departure with the mixed marketplace and ghostly crowds forming, the Xinhua Hunters (period early 1900's) fan out.

A man at a booth stands chatting, run through from behind by Qiu's blade.  He turns to beast in death as a wormish shade squiggles away.  Pinned by the other blade thrown into the cobblestone before dissipation up into the steel.

(music pause)

Juliet - "I think this must be Hell."

Germain - "One of many, if at all."

Out again through the mist, hunters fanning.  Occasional spins to strike, disturbing the steam, the stiltwalkers assisting through it.  Across an open field on the outskirts a remnant army of the conquered hell gathers for their approach.

Germain - Voiced over, "It could be newly conquered, reformatting into a 'not-a-hell'.  An amalgamation between what it once was, what it was intended for, and what it chooses ... to be.  Like us all.  I'm just passing through, personally."  Looks her over, "Have you any ... particular reason to be in one ?"

(music continues)

The hunters disperse into the open blank field, forming a long line, regrouped from behind by the more gathering, and through with stiltwalkers.  Aedera steps out from the line, examining the board and notating.

(music pause)

As they pass through a cloud of steam ~

Juliet - "... suicide.  As my Romeo ... for me.  I have to find him he's here because of me ... it's ... it's all because of me."  She cries into his shoulder while he seems a bit confused ...

Germain - ... Pulling apart, "But ... your tale is set in the Reformation.  Suicide shouldn't apply.  It was all fairly well rewritten specifically, so your kind could do whatever you wanted.  One way or another."

Juliet - Stepping back ... "The 'Reformation' ..."

Germain - Staring, half to himself ... "My god he didn't even bring it up not once, did he.  That gold kissed fool."

(music continues)

Germain - More directly, "Juliet.  You're not real.  You're just a story.  A tale told by a man and performed in it's day by boys.  I watched you three hundred years ago and this ..."  Holding the vial, "... was harvested a hundred years from now, three thousand years before that.  Bought it just the other day.  And you are, like all of this is, just a tale."

...

Juliet - "Go to Hell."

Germain - "Irony !"

(one song directly to next)

Aedera closes her book over the quill and tucks it in her satchel.

Juliet - Voiced over the sweep to battle (music drum intro), annoyed.  "I think you mean 'synchronicity'."

Germain - (VO) "That's a terrible habit, you know."

Juliet - (VO) "Excuse me ?"

Germain - (VO) "Correcting strangers in a strange land."

(music main)

Aedera ignites the blade from her hand screaming forth, the Ezekiel machine rises beneath her feet.  Its four faces rotate, her standing atop it's walk, human face stops forward roaring raw power across the field.

The hunters charge from the clinging steam, pouring with from within all parts of the carnival to join.  Ahead a hard wall of the more massive of the profane beasts locks formation.

View over the preacher's shoulder, passing between the maiden and the man leaning in to kiss, in the otherwise empty chapel.  The front doors stand open over the desert as the view goes through and out.  Across the dirty road and into the motel door left wide open where they begin.

~ The Decibel ports in over the cannons lined protecting the gate and control, turning to fire from the end of 'Cost and Diversions'.  It ports away and back between to two port fore, bringing down their towers before exit again.

He throws her to the bed and starts pulling off his tuxedo, she reaches for the ties at the back of her wedding dress.  He grabs her and flips her over, pulls a switchblade and cuts them, then stabs it into the bedside table.

She pushes up and flips back around beneath him, grabs his neck pulling in.

~ The decibel bombs another tower and ports out, pulling debris behind shattering another past.

He pulls off the bodice of the dress, and yanks the front down kissing.  Further and further down, while she stares gasping at the slow ceiling fan over head.

~ Dark inside, Timepiece is mounted on the motorcycle, working the monitor on the fuselage.  Cables hang in their place from the engine, appearing to belong there, docked.

A single slow hand from he foot and up her thigh, along her curves and to her face as he kisses.

~ The engine glows before another jump.

The maiden's eyes open wide with a gasp, tears stream

Man - "I love you."  Her eyes close fading out the view, music through the credits.

the end

~ after credits ~

Inside the tank, clothes hanging and strewn from the works, they hear a series of explosions and roaring zombies.  Some gunshots ... a flame thrower ... some cursing ... then a deep banging on the side of the tank.

...

Grabbing at clothes.

Doe - From outside, "Hey um.  Nocturne ?  You in there ?"

...

Nocturne - "... yeah ... ?"

Doe - "Forgot your phone."

The hatch creaks opens.  A phone drops in, a grocery bag spilling over with snacks, three pints of ice chunky cream, clips and sandwiches, and an M1 Abrams manual.  The hatch closes.

...

They all burst laughing, she picks up the phone.

Flips it open (yes, they're durable), onscreen ~ "Love ya babe."

Outside screeching tires.
